Description of S’Alga Beach
S’Alga beach is the largest bay on the island of Espalmador, facing west/southwest. The beach is an uninterrupted sandy area of more than 800 meters long, where you can enjoy a very quiet day at the beach in a very undisturbed natural environment.
Beach without services
As it is in a protected environment, s’Alga beach does not have any type of services available. Therefore, if you are going to spend the day at Espalmador, it is mandatory that you take water and food with you for the whole day.
Transparent and very calm waters
The waters of the beach of s’Alga are very transparent and are always very calm. The reason for the transparency and turquoise blue color of the water is, as in the rest of the beaches of Formentera, Posidonia Oceanica, the marine plant that filters the water and keeps the seabed anchored, thus preventing the water from becoming cloudy.
In addition, the beach of s’Alga is protected by the island of s’Alga and by several reefs; in its northernmost part it is protected by the point des Gorrinets. This means that the waters of s’Alga beach are always at rest, almost like a swimming pool.
