Platja des Copinar beach, Formentera
The beach of Es Copinyar or Es Copinar (you will find it written both ways) is a very crowded beach every day, with a family atmosphere and with all the services. It is the northernmost sandy area of the coast of Migjorn.
Description of Es Copinar Beach
The beach of Es Copinyar or Es Copinar is the easternmost of the large beaches of Migjorn. The only thing further east of Es Copinar is the tiny and well-known beach of es Caló des Mort.
Es Copinar beach is actually three clearly differentiated beaches, separated by rock reefs, a natural division that creates three distinct bathing areas.
The total length of the beach is about 400 meters, but we must take into account that some of these parts are rocky, so the sandy area is slightly smaller. Once in the water, Es Copinyar beach has some small rock reefs at very shallow depths, perfect for snorkeling. The beach increases its depth very slowly. However, you have to pay attention to the waves as they can sometimes be intense. It is one of the best known and most popular beaches of Migjorn and all Formentera, with crystal clear waters and turquoise blue, of great beauty.
Various services
Es Copinyar beach is located in one of the first areas that were urbanized in Formentera during the opening of the island to tourism in the 70s. Being an area of easy access and with buildings already installed for several decades, (a hotel of considerable dimensions, the Hotel Riu La Mola, and a tourist complex, the Maryland) the beach offers all available services.
Access to Es Copinar beach
To reach the beach of Es Copinyar we must take the main road to La Mola, pass the village of Es Caló and start the climb. After about 500 meters we must take the detour to the right with signs to the Hotel Riu La Mola and the MaryLand resort. At the end of the avenue, all paved and downhill, we will find a parking lot mainly for motorcycles. We can also park on the sides of the avenue if we go by car.
We can also access on foot from the nearby beach of Es Arenals, which is just a few dozen meters from Es Copinyar, separated from it by a reef of rocks. To cover the distance between both beaches there is a wooden walkway that will allow us to move comfortably.
Public transport also reaches this area of Formentera, with a bus stop that leaves us a few meters from the beach.
