Beach of Es Còdol Foradat (or Es Valencians)

This bathing area in Migjorn is known for “Es Còdol Foradat”, but also for “Es Valencians”. In this area there is a restaurant with the same name and some other restaurants.

Description of the beach of Es Còdol Foradat o des Valencians

This part of Migjorn is known as Es Còdol Foradat or Es Valencians (in Balearic Catalan).

Es Còdol Foradat means in Formentera Catalan “the pierced rock” and the name of this beach comes from the large rock in the area that has created a cave (as you can see in the images of the gallery).

The coast here does not form an uninterrupted and unobstructed sandy beach, but intersperses areas of sandy beach with others with rocks. In the rocky areas there are some isolated small huts to shelter boats, offering a very picturesque image.

The two most prominent areas where bathers accumulate in greater density are near the two restaurants in the area, the VogaMarí and Es Códol Foradat, in the eastern and central parts of the beach. The beach there is of the dune/sandy type, with dunes and vegetation in an excellent state of conservation, with a beach of about 80 meters long and another of about 450 meters long. As in most of Migjorn, a wooden walkway runs along the outermost part of the beach, crossing the dunes following the coast.

As we move eastward and reach the end of the larger of the two beaches, the sandy areas become smaller and smaller and the rocks predominate, forming nooks, crannies and hiding places that offer a lot of privacy and tranquility. It is here where you will find more people practicing nudism and less crowds. These corners are undoubtedly one of the quietest in Formentera.

There are three accesses to reach this area of Migjorn known as Es Còdol Foradat or Es Valencians.

Access Km 8.9 (Restaurant es Còdol Foradat)

The westernmost part of this area of Migjorn can be reached by taking the dirt road at kilometer 8.9 of the main road towards La Mola. To do this we must follow the directions of the restaurant Es Còdol Foradat. After 1.3 km on an unpaved road we will arrive at a parking lot for approximately ten vehicles. If you go by motorcycle, as anywhere on the island, you are sure to find a place to park.

Access Km 9.6 (Vogamarí Restaurant)

We must look for the crossroad that leads to the Vogamarí Restaurant and continue along the dirt road for 1.4 kilometers. At the end of all we will find a large parking lot where vehicles and motorcycles fit without any problem.

Access Km 10.5 (independent road)

We must take a dirt road with a small signpost painted on a stone with the mark 10.5 in blue. The entrance to the road is a bit in bad condition, but the rest of the trail can be circulated without problems. The road is a 1 kilometer long straight road with some steep switchbacks, which leads to a large parking lot where you will have no problem to park.

Access 10.7 (Restaurant 10.7)

The last access, the one that is more to the north of the beach of Es Còdol Foradat is the one that takes you to the restaurant 10.7. In this access you will not find a beach as such, but small sandy areas between the rocks. It is the perfect place to enjoy the beach of Es Còdol Foradat if you are looking for privacy and tranquility.
