The urban race in Es Pujols is one of the oldest in Formentera. After a year of hiatus, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been able to resume thanks to the Grup Esportiu Espalmador, who have made a great effort to achieve its organization.
What is the urban race in Es pujols?
In Formentera there are several famous urban races. The oldest of the Pitiusas competitions is this one, the urban race in Es Pujols. Formentera, with its mild climate, orography and preserved paths, makes it one of the most sought-after destinations for runners.
It is a popular race that consists of two laps, and is limited this year to 150 participants. Due to the pandemic, security protocol events have had to be adapted to respect preventive measures against COVID-19.
How to participate in the run?
To participate in the race, register by visiting the website www.elitechip.net; you can do this up to one day before the competition.
The registration fee is 5 euros per run. By being registered you will be able to enjoy a free bus service, with a 50% discount for athletes traveling by boat from Ibiza.
2021 edition race
The race will be held on July 18, 2021 in Es Pujols. It is promoted by the Formentera Consell, specifically the Sports area.
The departure is at 5:30 p.m. from Miramar Avenue in Es Pujols. You will arrive at the same point, Hotel sa Volta. The maximum number of competitors allowed will be 150 runners per category.
The race will include an urban circuit of approximately 800 meters, a total of 1,606 meters. Highlighting that for the Urban Mile there will be two laps. For the 5 km race there will be six laps. In the case of the sub 10 category it was half a lap of the circuit, and for the sub 14 category it was a lap of the circuit.
The route is scheduled to travel along Miramar Avenue, the promenade and Roca Plana Street.
If this year you don’t feel up to it, we invite you next year to register and participate in the urban race in Es Pujols. It is carried out annually, usually in the months of July or August. Everything will depend on the behavior of COVID-19.
