In Sant Ferran is one of the 6 mills of Formentera. Although the most famous is the molí de la Mola, the Molí d’en Teuet is a must if you are interested in the history of Formentera.
The first mill of Formentera
The Molí d’en Teuet was one of the first (if not the first) windmill to enter into service in Formentera. The most reliable data we have on this mill fix the year of its construction in 1751, and the first documented reference to this mill is from 1773 (about 270 years ago, almost nothing).
The mills of Formentera were an inseparable part of Formentera’s culture, especially for the fact that they provided the labor force necessary to grind grain (the main sustenance of the island’s inhabitants).
How to find the Molí d’en Teuet?
Molí d’en Teuet is located very close to the Sant Ferran gas station. In fact, it is located on a street parallel to the main road between Sant Francesc and Sant Ferran, on the south side. From the gas station, if you follow the road that goes perpendicular to the main road, you will find the mill after driving about 500 meters.
Remember that you can only visit the mill from the street, since it is located on private property.
In process of restoration
The mill is currently being restored by its owner, Vicent Mayans, a descendant of the mill’s original builder.
