The Molí de Ses Roques was, together with Es Molí d’en Teuet, one of the first windmills to come into operation in Formentera. The Molí de ses Roques is currently attached to a house and only the truncated cone structure remains.
History of Ses Roques Mill
The Mill of Ses Roques appears in the first written documentation of Formentera in 1797, some years after the neighboring Molí d’en Teuet. It is located on the Ses Roques road, in the eastern part of the town of Sant Ferran.
The Mill of Ses Roques was certainly, like the other mills of Formentera, a neuralgic point at the social level of the island, where the neighbors gathered to grind the grain of the crops.
How to get to Molí de Ses Roques
Molí de Ses Roques is located a few meters from the road to Cala en Baster. So you can stop and take a look during your trip to or from this cove of Formentera.
Other mills in Formentera
Remember that Formentera had 6 windmills, although nowadays you can only see 5:
- El molí Vell de la Mola (it can be visited and it is restored)
- El molí d’en Teuet (it is on private property, you can only see it from the outside).
- El Molí d’en Botigues
- El Molí d’en Jeroni
